"My functional knowledge of the human body allows me to treat the cause of the pain, not just the symptom."
What is Manual Therapy?
Gina’s brand of manual therapy, Inter-Structural Release, is specialized, outcome driven, and anatomically and patient-focused. Manual therapy uses the practitioner’s hands and visual observation skills to locate and treat the cause of pain resulting from soft tissue dysfunction.
-
INTER = Between
-
STRUCTURAL = Soft tissues (muscles, tendons, ligaments, adipose, fascia, organs, vascular structures) and hard tissues (bones)
-
RELEASE = Removal of restriction to allow for freedom of movement, action, or flow.

What are the Benefits of Manual Therapy?
-
Increased circulation of blood and lymph
-
Increased bodily awareness
-
Ability to improve both acute and chronic pain and mobility conditions
-
Conservative alternative to surgery in many cases
-
Improvement of soft tissue texture and mobility
-
Improvement of digestive issues, incontinence, and pelvic floor dysfunction
-
Outcome driven — seeks to address the root cause of discomfort and pain, rather than masking symptoms.

What is the Difference Between Manual Therapy and Massage Therapy?
Massage Therapy is:
-
Great as a long-term, routine maintenance measure for overall health
-
Focused on well being, mind-body connection, and activating the rest/digest/repose branch of the nervous system
-
More generalized in nature, with many therapists using a routine which may only vary slightly from client to client
Manual Therapy is:
-
Short-term and structured treatment plan for correcting a source of pain
-
Focused on resolving a diagnosis-specific set of symptoms
-
Anatomically focused and outcome-driven, differentiating application from patient to patient
